Roulette is a very straightforward game of luck. In Roulette the object is to correctly predict where the ball is going to land or stop on the wheel. There are no mathematical ways to increase your chances of winning.

American Roulette versus European Roulette:

The house odds are higher in American Roulette, versus Eurpoean Roulette. This is because the American Roulette wheel has a green zero and a green double zero, and European Roulette has only the one green zero on the Roulette wheel. The American Roulette Wheel has 38 partitions, and a house advantage of 5.26%. The European Roulette Table has 37 partitions and a house advantage of 2.70%. So this means that for every $10 bet the American Roulette house is assured of making 52 cents, where the European roulette house is only assured of making 27 cents! This may not seam like much of a difference, but it is still a difference of your winning odds and it can definately add up!!

Playing Roulette

Special Roulette chips are purchased from the Roulette Dealer, or from the online roulette casino, and assigned the value you choose per chip but remaining within the table minimum and maximum.

Bets are made by placing your chips on the table in positions where you expect the ball to land on the wheel. You can bet on red/black, odd/even, single numbers (including zero/double zero), combinations of numbers, or groups of numbers. There are two different roulette tables, a single zero table which is the European table, and the double zero table which is the American table.

When playing you need to meet the minimum bet requirement. If the minimum bet is $1 and you are playing 25 cent chips you need to play at least four chips which brings your total bet to $1. Some tables separate the outside from the inside when meeting the minimum bet requirements, this means you are not allowed to split the minimum bet between the inside and outside betting areas. If you chose to play both you must meet the minimum both inside and outside.

The Roulette operator is known as the banker, croupier, or dealer, spins the wheel after most bets have been placed and releases an ivory marble into the bowl in the opposite direction of the spinning wheel. You are allowed to continue betting beginning from the time the last games marker is removed from the betting area, after the ball is released for the next game, and until the time the dealer waves their hand over the table and says, "No more bets."

When the spinning wheel slows the ball will come to rest in one of the compartments that will be the winning bet. The marker is placed by the dealer on the Roulette tables corresponding number to where the ball landed and wagers are paid out before removing the marker and moving on to the next game.

Betting Options

Inside bets can be placed straight up or in variations of ways to include multiple numbers on a single bet. This is done by placing your chips in a position to touch all the numbers you wish to bet on, or on the side of the row for the Trio, Five and Six Number Bets. Paybacks to the various bets are as follows:

Straight Bet - pays 35 to 1
Split Bet - pays 17 to 1
Trio Bet - pays 11 to 1
Corner Bet - pays 8 to 1
Five Number Bet - pays 6 to 1
Six Number Bet - pays 5 to 1

The Roulette wheel and roulette betting

The Roulette Wheel has 36 numbers, 1 to 36 plus a "0" and "00" on the American wheel. The numbers are colored red and black with the "0" and "00" green. Roulette offers a variety of bets Odd or Even, Red or Black and any combination of adjoining numbers.

Roulette chips vary in their denomination and color. You play with your own different colored chips. The value of your chips is determined by your "buy-in." Chips ranging in value can be bought in stacks of 20 from the dealer.

The game begins when the players have placed most of their bets by putting their chips on the numbered layout. With the wheel rotating in a counter-clockwise direction, the dealer spins a small white marble ball in the opposite direction. Players continue to place bets until the ball is ready to fall from its track onto the wheel and the dealer waves his hand out and says "No more bets."

When the ball falls onto a number on the wheel, the dealer points out the number on the layout but putting a marker on the number, and the winning bets are paid.

How the bets are placed: Single 0 or double 00 - Pays 35 to 1.

Split 0 to 00 - Pays 17 to 1.

Five numbers (0, 00, 1, 2, 3, only.) - Pays 6 to 1.

Single number - Pays 35 to 1.
